Negli anni Cinquanta Scatizzi ha iniziato una sperimentazione intensa sulla materia pittorica.

Gli anni Quaranta lo hanno visto più legato al soggetto rappresentato, l’elemento figurativo continuava ad essere il massimo interesse, declinato in più sfumature emozionali ma sicuramente con un atteggiamento ancora sussurrato.

Gli anni Cinquanta segnano il periodo di rottura, la mera attenzione figurativa inizia ad andargli stretta, scopre quindi che il colore può essere plasmato in altezza, che i grumi creano essi stessi un chiaroscuro e questo li rende autonomi rispetto al complesso.

La materia assume così nuove consistenze, Scatizzi si trova a modellare il colore senza disciplinarlo perché lì aleggia quel nuovo senso di ruvida bellezza.

In the 1950s, Scatizzi began an intense experimentation with pictorial matter.

The 1940s saw him more closely linked to the subject represented, the figurative element continued to be the greatest interest, declined in more emotional nuances but certainly still with a whispering attitude.

The 1950s marked the period of rupture, the mere figurative focus began to get too narrow for him, he then discovered that colour could be moulded in height, that the lumps themselves create a chiaroscuro and this made them autonomous with respect to the whole.

Matter thus takes on new consistencies, Scatizzi finds himself modelling colour without disciplining it because there hovers that new sense of rough beauty.
