L’Iris è un fiore nobile, perché in un certo qual modo si lega inevitabilmente all’aristocrazia, basti pensare alla monarchia francese che lo aveva già preso a simbolo in età medievale.

Successivamente il giglio (o giaggiolo) bianco è divenuto simbolo anche della città di Firenze.

In questo caso però non ci troviamo di fronte alla tipica bulbosa coltivata, dai fiori grandi ed appariscenti, qui abbiamo la più tenera e delicata varietà spontanea che nasce lungo i nostri fossi, paludi o risaie.

Il questo caso il fiore presenta dimensioni molto inferiori e la stessa altezza dello stelo lo porta un po’ a “sparire” nella vegetazione spontanea.

Un fiore minuto e fragile, dalla colorazione potente e quasi ipnotica, la cui semplicità viene resa ulteriormente dalle pennellate sinuose che lo vanno a comporre, e con un fare sincero, senza bisogno di inutili abbellimenti; infatti Faraoni non omette neanche un fiore appassito.

The Iris is a noble flower because in a way it is inevitably linked to the aristocracy, just think of the French monarchy, which had already taken it as a symbol in medieval times.

Later the white lily (or iris) also became a symbol of the city of Florence.

In this case, however, we are not dealing with the typical cultivated bulbous with large and showy flowers; here we have the more tender and delicate wild variety that grows along our ditches, marshes or rice fields.

In this case the flower is much smaller in size and the same height of the stem causes it to ‘disappear’ into the wild vegetation.

A minute and fragile flower, with a powerful and almost hypnotic coloration, whose simplicity is further rendered by the sinuous brushstrokes that go into its composition, and with a sincere manner, with no need for unnecessary embellishments; in fact, Faraoni does not omit a single withered flower.
