Il linguaggio artistico di Enzo Pregno, con la sua espressività così particolare, non è frutto di studi accademici essendo egli un autodidatta, ma è sicuramente il risultato dei molteplici viaggi che hanno costellato la sua vita e la sua carriera artistica.

Come per tutti, quello che risulta essere veramente formativo sono le esperienze che ognuno compie sulla propria pelle e che poi filtra attraverso la propria personalità. I viaggi di Pregno avevano come nodo centrale sicuramente l’osservare quei palcoscenici su cui si esibivano gli artisti più in vista per poter non tanto per scimmiottare o cavalcarne l’onda, quanto forse il comprendere quel quid che li ha resi “grandi”, con la semplicità di chi ammira e cerca di ritagliarsi il suo angolo di mondo.

Un artista curioso ma riservato e schivo che ha sempre rifuggito appellativi ed etichette. 

Enzo Pregno è riuscito con la sua delicatezza d’animo, magistralmente esplicata nella sua pittura, a farsi apprezzare da molti artisti suoi contemporanei che hanno spesso manifestato il loro apprezzamento per il maestro.

Tra gli artisti che lo ammiravano vi era anche Filippo De Pisis che un giorno disse:

《Io dipingo la bellezza che passa, lui dipinge la bellezza che resta.》

Enzo Pregno’s artistic language, with its very special expressiveness, is not the result of academic studies as he is self-taught, but is certainly the result of the many journeys that have studded his life and artistic career.

As for everyone, what is truly formative are the experiences that everyone makes on their own skin and then filters through their personality. Pregno’s travels certainly centred on observing those stages on which the most prominent artists performed, not so much to ape or ride their wave, but perhaps to understand that quid that made them ‘great’, with the simplicity of one who admires and tries to carve out his own corner of the world.

A curious but reserved and shy artist who has always shunned appellations and labels.

Enzo Pregno succeeded with his delicacy of spirit, masterfully expressed in his painting, in being appreciated by many of his contemporaries who often expressed their appreciation for the master.

Among the artists who admired him was also Filippo De Pisis who one day said:

《I paint the beauty that passes, he paints the beauty that remains.》
