Enzo Pregno occupa un posto rilevante nell’arte del ’900 in Toscana.

La sua pittura asciutta, ristretta all’essenzialità, è nella linea storica dell’espressionismo europeo e ne costituisce uno dei rari esiti in Italia.

Un atteggiamento dello spirito che non registra semplicemente la realtà ma la modifica.

Pregno riesce ad infondere un particolare sentore di calore alle sue nature morte, quella sensazione tipicamente domestica che parla di affetti cari e di tutti quei rumori ed odori ad essi legati.

La composizione di questi ortaggi è perfettamente ponderata, in modo che si crei un raccoglimento tra i tre elementi in modo tale da occupare esclusivamente il centro.

Enzo Pregno occupies an important place in 20th century art in Tuscany.

His dry painting, restricted to essentiality, is in the historical line of European expressionism and constitutes one of its rare outcomes in Italy.

An attitude of the spirit that does not simply record reality but modifies it.

Pregno succeeds in infusing his still lifes with a special feeling of warmth, that typically domestic sensation that speaks of dear affections and all those noises and smells associated with them.

It is therefore possible through an immersion in memory to rediscover that mumbling of the pot on the stove and those scents of freshly picked vegetables in the garden.

An aubergine, a yellow pepper and a tomato are the protagonists of this painting.

The composition of these vegetables is perfectly weighted, so that there is a gathering between the three elements so that they occupy the centre exclusively.
