Questo dipinto, dal soggetto diverso rispetto a quelli cui siamo abituati di Borgianni, tradisce una “immaginazione”, come specificato dallo stesso artista nel titolo.

Questa immaginazione però non è casuale ma poggia su basi molto solide di conoscenze storico artistiche.

In questo dipinto possiamo trovare chiari rimandi a “Les domoiselles d’Avignon” di Picasso, “Le grandi bagnati” di Cézanne e tutta la serie ad esse dedicate, giusto per citare solo alcuni nomi noti.

Qui però il tema trattato è quello del mito delle ninfe, non quindi nudi terreni come quelli sopracitati.

Abbiamo qui divinità naturali dell’antica Grecia, protettrici di luoghi e specifiche essenze vegetali.

Borgianni, in questo omaggio alle arti che spesso hanno decantato le gesta di queste schive creature bellissime, ne plasma un omaggio alla bellezza femminile ed alla sua innata sensualità.

This painting, with a different subject than those we are used to from Borgianni, betrays an ‘imagination’, as specified by the artist himself in the title.

This imagination, however, is not accidental but rests on a very solid foundation of art-historical knowledge.

In this painting we can find clear references to Picasso’s “Les domoiselles d’Avignon,” Cézanne’s “The Great Bathers” and the whole series dedicated to them, just to mention a few well-known names.

Here, however, the theme is that of the myth of nymphs, not, therefore, earthly nudes like those mentioned above.

We have here natural divinities of ancient Greece, protectors of places and specific plant essences.

Borgianni, in this homage to the arts that have often extolled the exploits of these shy, beautiful creatures, shapes it into a tribute to feminine beauty and its innate sensuality.
