In questo dipinto è impossibile non cogliere la nota malinconica che denomina il quadro stesso: “Il barcone spiaggiato” appunto.

Il nostro immaginario di oggi ci porta inevitabilmente ai migranti ed al loro sfidare le onde alla ricerca di un paese migliore per sè e per la loro famiglia, anche a costo della vita.

Nel 2005 questa realtà non era all’ordine del giorno, perciò questo barcone è da interpretare come mezzo abbandonato da chi viveva della pesca.

Un abbandono da interpretare forse come quel “panta rei” di Eraclito, “tutto scorre”.

Scorre il tempo, il mare all’orizzonte, le generazioni che scelgono altri mestieri, mentre quel barcone sancisce un passato non ancora scomparso.

La fissità delle cose che però subiscono la mutazione del tempo.

Una nostalgica visione di realtà dismesse che racchiudono le fatiche di un vivere diverso ed irripetibile.

In this painting, it is impossible not to pick up on the melancholic note that names the painting itself: ‘The beached barge’.

Our imagination today inevitably leads us to migrants and their braving the waves in search of a better country for themselves and their families, even at the cost of their lives.

In 2005, this reality wasn’t on the agenda, so this barge is to be interpreted as a means abandoned by those who made a living from fishing.

An abandonment to be interpreted perhaps as that ‘panta rei’ of Heraclitus, ‘everything flows’.

Time passes, the sea on the horizon, generations choosing other trades, while that barge enshrines a past that has not yet disappeared.

The fixity of things that undergo the mutation of time.

A nostalgic vision of disused realities that encapsulate the hardships of a different and unrepeatable life.
