I notturni di Sergio Scatizzi hanno inevitabilmente un apporto introspettivo importante che non possiamo non cogliere.

Scatizzi viveva la pittura come se essa fosse la sua forza vitale. La pittura era per Scatizzi una esigenza continua ed impellente, ma allo stesso tempo era una sorta di terapia.

Il pittore aveva una sorta di conversazione quotidiana con la pittura, un modo di confrontarsi con se stesso, uno specchio davanti cui non era possibile barare perché la pittura scavando nell’animo degli artisti non può che esprimere la verità, senza edulcorazioni o abbellimenti da proporre ad occhi terzi.

Noi in un notturno come questo non possiamo che sentire quel turbinio emotivo, farci cullare dai pendii argentei che, come la luna, sembrano parlarci di speranza, un faro, un appiglio di salvezza in quella suadente malinconia che cerca di fagocitarci inutilmente.

Sergio Scatizzi’s nocturnes inevitably have an important introspective contribution that we cannot fail to grasp.

Scatizzi lived painting as if it were his life force. For Scatizzi, painting was a continuous and pressing need, but at the same time it was a kind of therapy.

The painter had a sort of daily conversation with painting, a way of comparing himself with himself, a mirror in front of which it was not possible to cheat because painting delves into the artists’ souls and can only express the truth, without any sweetening or embellishment to be proposed to third eyes.

In a nocturne such as this, we cannot but feel that emotional whirlwind, let ourselves be lulled by the silvery slopes that, like the moon, seem to speak to us of hope, a beacon, a handhold of salvation in that persuasive melancholy that tries to swallow us up in vain.
