Durante gli anni di insegnamento all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, dove Silvio Loffredo aveva la cattedra di pittura, ha sempre mostrato un atteggiamento particolarmente democratico e progressista nel rapporto con gli studenti.

Con Loffredo i giovani avevano la possibilità di apprendere in libertà mantenendo una propria identità.

Spesso ognuno ritraeva l’altro, in un clima di massima reciprocità, in cui tutti, insegnante compreso, potessero imparare osservando l’altro.

Questo approccio all’arte, lo ha portato ad una maggiore vicinanza, emotiva oltre che artistica, con i ragazzi che lo ricordano ancora oggi con grande affetto.

Il ritratto che vi proponiamo oggi nasce proprio in quelle aule e la giovane ragazza ritratta era una sua allieva.

Possiamo ammirare la spontaneità della giovane, la quale viene ulteriormente enfatizzata dalla qualità della pittura stessa, particolarmente gestuale e priva di espedienti che ne migliorino la fisionomia o l’abbigliamento.

E’ inoltre interessante osservare che sul retro del dipinto, Loffredo, come faceva spesso, ha voluto aggiungere un piccolo omaggio disegnativo. I suoi soggetti preferiti per tali doni sono generalmente i gatti, in questo caso la figura animalesca è una bizzarra creatura alata che ci fa pensare a certe invenzioni di Goya.

During his years of teaching at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, where Silvio Loffredo held the chair of painting, he always showed a particularly democratic and progressive attitude in his relationship with students.

With Loffredo, young people had the opportunity to learn in freedom while maintaining their own identity.

Often everyone would portray the other, in an atmosphere of maximum reciprocity, in which everyone, including the teacher, could learn by observing the other.

This approach to art brought him closer, emotionally as well as artistically, to the children, who still remember him today with great affection.

The portrait we offer you today was created in those very classrooms and the young girl portrayed was one of his pupils.

We can admire the spontaneity of the young girl, which is further emphasised by the quality of the painting itself, which is particularly gestural and devoid of expedients that enhance her physiognomy or clothing.

It is also interesting to note that on the back of the painting, Loffredo, as he often did, wanted to add a small drawing homage. His favourite subjects for such gifts are usually cats, in this case the animal figure is a bizarre winged creature that makes us think of certain Goya inventions.
